Friction Tamer products are designed so their core file analysis happens locally on your Windows PC. Workbooks, scanned folder contents and saved index data are not uploaded to Friction Tamer for analysis.

Website

This static website is published without advertising trackers, behavioural analytics or marketing cookies by default. Basic infrastructure logs may still be processed by the hosting provider for security, reliability and abuse prevention.

Excel Link Detective

Workbook scans, health checks and supported repairs are performed locally. The application may access paths you choose in order to verify referenced source workbooks.

Folder Space Detective

Folder/drive scans, cleanup-rule evaluation and optional saved indexes are processed locally. Settings, rules and optional indexes are stored under the Windows user profile. Background index refresh is optional and only runs while the application is open.

Licensing and purchases

Licence activation/validation can communicate with the licensing provider to validate a licence key and activation instance. Workbook contents, scanned folder listings and index contents are not intended to be part of that licence request.

Purchases are handled by the checkout/payment provider. Payment information is entered with that provider and is subject to its privacy terms; Friction Tamer does not need your full payment-card details for local file analysis.

Support

If you contact support, the information you choose to send will be used to respond to your request. Avoid sending confidential workbooks, folder listings or screenshots unless they are necessary and you are comfortable sharing them.
