Privacy, in plain language.

Friction Tamer products are designed so their core local work happens on your Windows PC. FT Dev Bridge does not proxy your project source through a Friction Tamer cloud service, and the Detective tools do not upload scanned file contents to Friction Tamer for analysis.

FT Dev Bridge

FT Dev Bridge runs locally and exposes only project roots and capabilities that are approved on the local PC. Project source, Git state, build output and Windows application execution remain on your machine unless you deliberately ask a connected AI provider to inspect information through FTDB.

When a connected AI assistant reads source through FTDB, the returned source content becomes part of that AI conversation and is processed under the AI provider's account, product and privacy terms. Friction Tamer does not act as an inference proxy and does not receive a copy of that conversation merely because FTDB is being used.

FTDB stores local settings, approved-project metadata, development-session state and licence state under the Windows user profile. Credential-like files are hidden from bridge access by policy. Paid licence keys are stored using Windows DPAPI rather than plain-text application settings.

Licensing

FTDB Pro and other licensed Friction Tamer products can communicate with Lemon Squeezy's licensing service to activate, validate and deactivate a licence. Licence requests can include the licence key, product/variant information and a generated installation/instance identifier needed to enforce the configured device limit. Project source code, scanned folder listings and saved indexes are not intended to be included in licence-validation requests.

FT Video Studio

FT Video Studio keeps project files, source media, downloaded footage, narration assets, subtitles, renders and project backups in the local project workspace by default. Connecting FTVS to ChatGPT or another compatible assistant does not by itself upload source-video files to that provider; only the information returned through the specific connected tool calls becomes part of that AI conversation.

Some optional workflows can use external services that you configure, such as online source sites, AI services, YouTube or licensing. Those requests are made only when the corresponding feature is used and are governed by the external service's terms and privacy practices. FTVS licence activation and validation use the licensing provider and can include the licence key, product/variant information and a generated device/instance identifier needed to enforce the configured activation limit; project media is not intended to be included in licence-validation requests.

Website

This website does not use advertising trackers or marketing cookies by default. The site records aggregate page views and aggregate software-download requests so Friction Tamer can understand which pages are useful and how often each product/version is downloaded. These first-party counters intentionally store only the normalized page path or product/version plus timestamp; they do not write IP addresses, cookies, visitor IDs, referrer URLs or personal file information. Basic infrastructure logs may still be processed by the hosting provider for security, reliability and abuse prevention.

Embedded YouTube players are not loaded until you press Play. At that point your browser connects directly to YouTube using the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com embed, and YouTube/Google may process that request under their own privacy terms.

Downloads Detective

Downloads-folder scans, duplicate verification, archive/folder comparison, Naming Assistant rules and Activity History are processed locally. The optional Browser Companion uses local browser/native-host coordination for the download URL/domain, intended filename and local path needed for its rules; Downloads Detective does not require a Friction Tamer account or cloud analysis service.

Folder Space Detective

Folder/drive scans, cleanup-rule evaluation and optional saved indexes are processed locally. Settings, rules and optional indexes are stored under the Windows user profile. Background index refresh is optional and only runs while the application is open.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by the checkout/payment provider acting as merchant of record. Payment information is entered with that provider and is subject to its privacy terms; Friction Tamer does not need your full payment-card details for local product operation.

Support

If you contact support, the information you choose to send will be used to respond to your request. Avoid sending confidential source code, folder listings or screenshots unless they are necessary and you are comfortable sharing them.
